In compliance with Assembly Bill 419 (AB 419), our district is posting the California Department of Justice’s guidance, “Immigration-Enforcement Actions at California Schools,” to provide clear information about school procedures and student privacy. The resource explains that all children have equal access to a free public education, regardless of their or their parents/guardians’ immigration status, and that schools do not need citizenship/immigration information or a Social Security number to enroll a student. It also summarizes how student records and personal information are protected under state and federal law and the limited circumstances in which information may be disclosed.
